Sources tell CoachingSearch.com that former Texas and NFL running back Ricky Williams will join the staff at University of Incarnate Word (TX).

Williams played at Texas from 1995-98. He was a two-time All-American and the 1998 Heisman Trophy winner and AP Player of the Year. He left college as the NCAA career rushing leader at the time.

Williams was the No. 5 pick in the 1999 NFL Draft. After spending time with the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins, he left football in 2003. He returned in 2005, spending time with the Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens and the CFL. He last played in the NFL in 2011.

The Cardinals went 2-9 in 2012. They started playing in 2009 as a Division II program, posting a 5-5 record. The team went 3-8 in 2010 and 2-8 in 2011. The program will be an FCS Independent in 2013 and part of the Southland conference in 2014.
