Updated chart: Spring practice dates

Tampa Bay Bucs: LSU defensive backs coach Ron Cooper has accepted the defensive backs job with the Tampa Bay Bucs.

New Mexico: Defensive backs coach Jeff Mills has been promoted to defensive coordinator.  Also, Bob Davie has announced that former Akron defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove has joined the staff as inside linebackers coach.

Montana: Former New Mexico State offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Timm Rosenbach has accepted the same position at Montana.

Cincinnati Bengals: Jim McNally has joined the staff as an offensive line consultant.

East Carolina: Ruffin McNeil has talked with Georgia State wide receivers coach George Pugh about filling the outside receivers job at East Carolina.

Iowa: Former Texas offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Greg Davis has accepted the same position at Iowa.

Texas A&M: Sources tell me that Oklahoma State defensive quality control Scott Aligo has accepted a defensive grad assistant position at Texas A&M.

Florida Atlantic: Here are the salaries for the assistant coaches at FAU: offensive coordinator / quarterbacks Brian Wright ($139,000), offensive line coach Luke Meadows ($90,000), defensive line / special teams coordinator Brett Diersen ($83,500), wide receivers / recruiting coordinator Jeff Sims ($83,500), linebackers Jovan Dewitt ($70,000), defensive backs coach Ross Watson ($70,000), tight ends coach Jared Allen ($60,000), running backs coach Kerry Dixon ($60,000).

Southern University (LA): I'm beginning to hear that Stump Mitchell may actually stay at Southern University.

UMASS: Sacramento Mountain Lions (UFL) offensive coordinator Mike Kruzcek has accepted the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks job. Kruzcek once served as the head coach at UCF.

Practice starts today: Duke, Memphis, and Tulane begin spring practice today.  124 is the official over / under on the combined number of times coaches at those three programs will say, "Back on the ball.  Do it again."  Email pete@coachingsearch.com to let me know if you are taking the over or under.

Southern University (LA): That administration has released a statement stating , "Stump Mitchell is the head coach at Southern University today. There will be no other comments  on the situation unless, and until,  the situation changes."  The Jaguars begin spring practice this afternoon.

UT - San Antonio: Wide receivers coach Kevin Brown has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

Florida Atlantic: Sources tell me that Miami (OH) defensive coordinator Pete Rekstis has been offered the same position by Carl Pelini.

Butler University: Sources tell me that Valpo assistant coach Kyle Conner has accepted a position on the Butler University coaching staff.  Connor coached the tight ends at Indiana in 2010.

MTSU: Steve Ellis will serve as the co-defensive coordinator / corners coach.  Brent Brock shifts from inside receivers to running backs.  As first mentioned here, former Texas Tech offensive line coach Matt Moore will join the staff as tackles / tight ends / run game coordinator.  Also, West Georgia offensive line / run game coordinator Glen Elarbee has joined the staff as centers & guards coach.  Tyrone Nix will have the title of co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach.  Buster Faulkner was elevated to offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach.  Joe Cauthen is also moving from linebacker to defensive line.  Cauthen also coordinates the special teams units.

Ashland University: Sources tell me that former Indiana defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach Joe Palcic has accepted the defensive backs / special teams coordinator job at Ashland University.

Ohio Wesleyan: Lake Erie College offensive line coach Ian Formaz has accepted a position at Ohio Wesleyan.

Auburn: Tommy Thigpen will shift from safeties to linebackers.

South Florida: University of San Diego wide receivers coach Jerome Pathon has accepted the wide receivers job.

UAB: Defensive line coach Jimmy Williams has added the title of assistant head coach.

Iowa: There is a report that former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore is a candidate for the Iowa offensive coordinator position.

Appalachian State: Barron Collier HS (FL) head coach Mark Ivey accepted the outside linebackers job at App State.

Auburn: Safeties coach Tommy Thigpen will shift positions on the defensive side.  More details coming...

UCF: A source with knowledge of the situation tells me that Blaise Winter will indeed join the UCF coaching staff.  Winter replaced defensive line coach Jim Panagos, who accepted the defensive line job at Rutgers over the weekend.

MTSU: I have learned that former Ole Miss defensive coordinator / linebackers coach Tyrone Nix has accepted the defensive coordinator position at MTSU.

North Texas: Head coach Dan McCarney says he expects to lead the program through Spring drills beginning on March 28th.  McCarney is out of the hospital and attending the office for about an hour each day, at this point.

Fordham: I have learned that former South Florida co-defensive coordinator / linebackers coach David Blackwell has accepted the defensive coordinator position at Fordham University.

St. Louis Rams: As first reported here last Friday, Southern University head coach Stump Mitchell has indeed interviewed with Jeff Fisher for the running backs job.

UCF: I'm checking on some information that I have received about Blaise Winter possibly accepting the defensive line job at UCF.  Winter played for George O'Leary and is a expert motivational speaker.

Temple: Inside linebackers coach Sean McGowan has added the title of special teams coordinator. Running backs coach Tyree Foreman has added the title of recruiting coordinator.  Kevin Rogers' title will be quarterbacks / associate head coach.  Ryan Day's title will be co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers.

** Expect a number of positions to be filled today.

South Florida: Offensive coordinator Todd Fitch will shift from running backs to quarterbacks.  Peter Vaas will shift from quarterbacks to tight ends. Also, Larry Scott will shift from tight ends to running backs. According to the Tampa Bay Times, University of San Diego wide receivers coach Jerome Pathon has interviewed for the wide receivers job.  You may remember Pathon as the guy that once ran shallow crosses for Peyton Manning in Indianapolis.

University of Houston: Hawken HS (OH) coach Ken McClintock has joined the staff as director of player personnel.

Colgate: I'm told that Colgate is close to naming a replacement for the offensive line job.

Iowa: According to a reporter out of Iowa, former Texas offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Greg Davis has interviewed for the offensive coordinator position.

Stanford: Running backs coach Mike Sanford has added the title of recruiting coordinator.

Northern Illinois: Defensive line / recruiting coordinator Ryan Nielsen has been promoted to co-defensive coordinator.  Sources close to the situation tell me that Nielsen had the opportunity to interview with Marshall head coach Doc Holliday, but Dave Doeren responded quickly.

Colgate: The offensive line job has opened up at Colgate.

SMU: Early this morning, I told you that there was a report saying that former UCLA offensive line coach Bob Palcic will soon join the SMU staff. Although this may be true, I have just learned that Palcic does not have an offer as of this morning.

South Dakota School of Mines: I have learned that former Old Dominion co-defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach Jarod Dodson has accepted the defensive coordinator job at South Dakota School of Mines.

Texas Tech: I have confirmed that Marshall defensive line coach Fred Tate has just accepted the defensive line job at Texas Tech.

Chattanooga: Christopher Newport University defensive coordinator Adam Braithwaite has joined Russ Huesman's staff as the new safeties coach. Huesman had coached the safeties the last three seasons.

UCF: With the departure of Jim Panagos to Rutgers, George O'Leary needs to hire a new defensive line coach.  You could see Bowling Green defensive line coach Larry McDaniel, Miami (OH) defensive ends coach Matt Edwards, or former Akron assistant Vince Okruch become candidates to fill the position.

SMU: There is a report that former UCLA offensive line coach Bob Palcic will soon join the SMU staff as offensive line coach.

Hardin-Simmons University: McKinney North HS (TX) assistant Jon Loudermilk has joined the staff as linebacker / special teams coordinator.  Also, former Lampasas HS (TX) head coach Joey McQueen has joined the staff as wide receivers coach.
