As the 2012 season winds down, we thought we'd take a look at how this season's new coaches have done compared to their predecessors in the only statistic that really matters - wins.

There are games remaining, as many as four for some teams, so these numbers could change a lot, but this will give you an idea of the progress so far. Several coaches have orchestrated impressive seasons in their first year, particularly Ohio State's Urban Meyer, Fresno State's Tim DeRuyter, Penn State's Bill O'Brien (particularly considering the mess he inherited), Rutgers' Kyle Flood, Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin and UCLA's Jim Mora Jr. Meyer and DeRuyter already have eclipsed the win totals at their schools last year by four games each.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Hawaii's Norm Chow and Southern Miss' Ellis Johnson are having tough times in year one.
