Posted by: Pete Roussel on February 11, 2013 Sources have informed CoachingSearch.com that Northern Illinois head coach Rod Carey will hire Alabama defensive quality control assistant Kelvin Sigler as defensive backs coach. Before joining Nick Saban's staff in Tuscaloosa, Sigler served as the head coach at Blount HS (AL), where he led the program to a 27-18 record, earning four consecutive state playoffs berths. In addition to Sigler, Carey's staff now includes Jay Niemann (defensive coordinator / safeties), Bob Cole (offensive coordinator / quarterbacks), Kevin Kane (linebackers / special teams coordinator), Joe Tripodi (offensive line), Brett Diersen (defensive line / recruiting coordinator), Roy Manning (running backs), Thad Ward (wide receivers), and Tim Polasek (fullbacks / tight ends). With defensive coordinator Jay Niemann coaching the safeties, Sigler will focus on the corners. Stay tuned to the Coaching Search Ticker. ---------------------------
