Posted by: Josh Kendall on November 12, 2012 Gene Chizik compared Auburn's program to a sputtering automobile this weekend. He's hoping he gets to serve as the mechanic in the offseason. "I think it's really going to start with evaluation from top to bottom, from scheme to recruiting," Chizik told AL.com. "We have to look under the hood of the car. We have a car that's not running very well right now. From there, you can make very informed decisions on where you need to go. I'm just very disappointed where we are." Auburn lost 38-0 to Georgia to fall to 0-7 in the SEC and 2-8 overall. "It's very painful," Chizik said. "It's what you see. It's been frustrating. It's just been one of those years where it has snowballed in momentum, and we haven't been able to catch any. We're going to keep swinging away." Chizik deflected questions about his status but said he has a plan to turn the program around. Auburn plays Alabama A&M at home on Saturday before closing against Alabama in two weeks. "This is not about me. It's never been about me," he told AL.com. "Really and truly, I want to talk about our next football game and our seniors for the last time playing in this stadium. I understand the question, but it's not really about me. Anything I say sounds like an excuse, and I don't make excuses."
