Posted by: Pete Roussel on January 30, 2013 Ole Miss went on 16-0 run last night to cut a Kentucky lead to 73-72, but John Calipari's team pulled away late in front of a sellout crowd at Tad Smith Coliseum in Oxford, MS. Kentucky picked up a much needed win over the #16 ranked Rebels by a final score of 87-74. Calipari, however, shed light on one of the reasons why Hugh Freeze's football staff might be having such a tremendous recruiting year. In Calipari's mind, the only thing not spectacular on the Ole Miss campus is the outdated basketball arena. After recapping the game, he spoke of his conversation with Ole Miss basketball head coach Andy Kennedy. Calipari said, "I said, 'Andy, do you want me to mention something about building you a new building? You're 17-2, would you please build the guy a new building? I mean, the locker room we're in, I'm like looking for squirrels in there. I mean, you gotta be kidding me. I mean, you got all those football facilities. THIS CAMPUS IS GORGEOUS. This campus is like none other. This is one of the nicest college campuses in the country, except for this building. This is the only bad building on the whole campus." The good news is that a great looking new arena is on the way. But let's be honest, if you've ever been to Ole Miss, you know that Coach Cal is speaking the truth. The Ole Miss campus is second to none. (Pick it up at the 4:50 mark of this video. Listen to Cal as he explains it.) ------------------------------
