Mike Gundy stated shortly after Todd Monken accepted the head coaching job at Southern Miss that he wanted to wait for the NFL coaching carousel to relax before naming his next offensive coordinator.

Gundy ended the process today by naming Shippensburg University (PA) offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich has the new offensive coordinator/ quarterbacks coach at Oklahoma State.

Under Yurcich, the Shippensburg offense finished #1 nationally in total offense and #2 nationally in scoring offense by averaging 46 points per game this season.

Yurcich spent the last two years at Shippensburg.  He previously served as the offensive coordinator at Edinboro University for five years.

The move indicates that Gundy hopes to have more stability at the offensive coordinator position.

Holgorsen only spent one year in Stillwater. Monken stayed for two seasons.

Gundy did not want to make a hire and then have the same coach leave for an NFL job within a matter of weeks.

It's likely Yurcich will bring more stability.

Shippensburg finished 11-2 this season, losing to Winston-Salem State in the second round of the D-II playoffs.

Here's what Gundy said during his National Signing Day presser on Wednesday:
