New Oklahoma defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery talked about his new opportunity this afternoon.

Montgomery, who spent the last two years coaching the defensive line at Michigan, said, "They sold me that I was a big piece of the puzzle."

Montgomery, an Iowa graduate like Bob and Mike Stoops, has coached at Northern Iowa (2007-2008), Wyoming (2009-2010)

Montgomery said, "I may be the only coach on the staff that listens to what they(the players) listen to... a little Drake and Lil Wayne.  At the same time, it's about building relationships with your players. When they know that you care about them, they'll do just about anything for you."

"I'm a high energy guy.  I'm a teacher, first.  If you do something wrong, I'm not going to yell at you; I'm going to teach you how to do it right."

Oklahoma opens spring practice on March 5.

In addition to Montgomery, the Sooners recently added Bill Bedanbaugh as offensive line coach.  Bedanbaugh previously served as the offensive line coach at West Virginia.
