Posted by: Pete Roussel on February 20, 2012 According to the Council for Aid to Education, Stanford University raised $709 million in 2011, the most of any university in the country. Alumni and foundations generally account for between 50 and 70 percent of the total donations. Undoubtedly, Stanford's remarkable season under Jim Harbaugh in 2010, the off-season anticipation of Andrew Luck, and the continued success under David Shaw in 2011 served at the least as some sort of catalyst for the larger than normal donations. Over the past two seasons, Stanford is 22-3 with BCS bowl wins over Virginia Tech and Oklahoma State. Of course, it's not going to happen, but wouldn't it be something to see the university divvy up 1% of that $709 million to the coaches that helped bring constant national recognition to the university. Think about it. The national recognition that Stanford's football program has brought to the university has been nothing short of remarkable. Here is the group of coaches that have each had some sort of hand in the Stanford success since 2009: Jim Harbaugh, Greg Roman, David Shaw, Vic Fangio, Brian Polian, Tim Drevno, Pep Hamilton, Randy Hart, Lance Anderson, Derek Mason, Jason Tarver, Mike Bloomgren, Mike Sanford Jr, Ron Crook, Randy Hart, Ron Lynn, Andy Buh, Willie Taggart, DJ Durkin, and Clayton White. That would be a cool $354,500 per coach. ----------------------- You can follow me on twitter @CoachingSearch |
