In 2010, Roy Manning served as a defensive assistant at Cincinnati under Butch Jones.  After the season, Manning accepted the offensive grad assistant position at Michigan, his alma mater.

Now, Manning is back with the Bearcats' coaching staff.  This time, it's in a full-time assistant coaching role.  Obviously, Butch Jones thinks very highly of Manning.

Apparently, the Cincinnati players are thrilled about the hiring, as well.  Jones admitted that Manning received a standing ovation in a recent team meeting upon being introduced as the new outside linebackers coach.

Today, Cincinnati released a behind-the-scenes look at Manning that includes comments from several players.  You can sense their excitement to say the least.

Manning fills a slot on defense vacated by Tim Banks, who accepted the defensive coordinator / safeties job at Illinois.  Butch Jones promoted John Jancek to defensive coordinator / linebackers coach.

Before joining the Butch Jones' staff in 2010, Manning spent three seasons in the NFL with five different teams.  His career included stints with Green Bay, Houston, Buffalo, Jacksonville, and Cincinnati.

Judging by the following video, Manning has not forgotten about the weight room.  Dude has some guns.
